Michael Amato, creative director at The Urban Electric Co., believes the adventure is worthwhile. When developing his 2016 lighting collection for the brand, he relied heavily on inspiration gathered from global travel. The resulting aesthetic is a robust range of distinctive bench-made lighting fixtures that bring a fresh perspective to the existing assortment. Evidence of destination-specific inspiration can be seen in thoughtful details like the interesting angles of the Thadd flush mount inspired by a vintage fixture at a Paris flea market, and in the substantial yet elegant globe of the Kensington pendant that draws inspiration from Michael’s research on the history of the London Underground.
Hanging or wall-mounted, rustic or refined, Michael’s latest collection incorporates a mix of heritage materials to tell the story of sustainable artisanal craft with global refinement. Polished metals, antique and mirrored glass, and natural woods come together with halos of light to create unexpected yet livable pieces. Each product at once gives the notion of adventure, while providing a sense of home.
Currently, thirteen fixtures have launched – all available in a variety of finishes, glass and customization is always welcome. New designs will be introduced periodically throughout the year.
